Chimney Chase Cover Replacement

Factory chase covers rust and leak within years. We replace them with stainless steel covers that last decades.

Prefabricated chimney chases use a flat metal cover (chase top) to seal the top of the chase. Factory-installed galvanized covers often rust, sag, and leak within five to ten years. Eco Grizzly fabricates and installs custom stainless steel chase covers with a cross-break design that prevents water pooling and extends service life by decades.

Why Chase Covers Fail

Galvanized steel corrodes when the zinc coating wears off. Standing water accelerates rust. Once the cover rusts through, water enters the chase and damages framing, insulation, drywall, and the fireplace unit itself. A stainless steel replacement eliminates this cycle.

Custom Fabrication for Every Chase

No two chimney chases are exactly the same size. We measure the chase top on site, note the flue pipe diameter and position, and send specifications to our sheet metal shop. Each cover is fabricated from 24-gauge or 22-gauge stainless steel with a center cross-break that directs water to the drip edges. Flue collars, storm collars, and rain caps are included. The finished cover is installed with stainless screws and high-temperature sealant.

Signs Your Chase Cover Needs Replacement

Rust stains running down the sides of the chimney chase. Water spots on the ceiling near the fireplace. A musty odor from the firebox. Visible sagging or standing water on top of the cover. Any of these signs indicate water is entering the chase and causing interior damage that worsens with every rain.

Chase Cover FAQs

Common questions answered by our certified technicians.

Rust stains running down the side of your chimney chase, water spots on the ceiling near the fireplace, or musty odors from the firebox are common signs of a failed chase cover.
A stainless steel chase cover lasts 20 to 30 years or more. It resists corrosion, does not sag, and maintains its cross-break shape for consistent water drainage.
No. A chimney cap sits on top of a flue tile or crown on a masonry chimney. A chase cover seals the entire top of a framed chimney chase found on prefabricated (factory-built) fireplace systems. They serve similar purposes but are built differently.
