California law makes it easier than ever to add an accessory dwelling unit to your property. Eco Grizzly manages ADU projects from feasibility assessment through final occupancy. We handle architectural plans, city permits, utility connections, and construction. Whether you want a detached backyard unit, a garage conversion, or a junior ADU carved from existing space, we deliver a finished, permitted living space on time and on budget.

ADU Construction

Types of ADUs We Build

Detached ADUs: standalone structures up to 1,200 square feet built in your backyard. Garage conversions: transforming an existing attached or detached garage into a fully permitted living unit. Junior ADUs (JADUs): up to 500 square feet created within the footprint of an existing home. We also build above-garage ADUs where site conditions allow.

Permits and Regulations

California Senate Bill 9 and AB 68 streamlined ADU permitting statewide. Most jurisdictions must approve ADU plans within 60 days. We prepare all architectural drawings, structural calculations, Title 24 energy compliance documents, and permit applications. We also coordinate with utility companies for new water, sewer, and electrical service.

Construction Process

After permits are approved, construction typically takes three to six months. Our team handles foundation, framing, roofing, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, insulation, drywall, flooring, cabinets, and finish work. We schedule city inspections at each milestone and provide regular progress updates with photos.

Room Addition Built

Southern California

This addition project expanded the home's living space with a fully permitted room addition. The work included concrete foundation, wood framing, roof tie-in, electrical and plumbing rough-in, insulation, drywall, paint, and exterior stucco to match the existing home. The end result blends with the original structure while adding significant square footage.

Roof Replacement

Southern California

The existing roof had reached the end of its lifespan with visible wear and multiple leak points. Our crew performed a complete tear-off, inspected the deck for damage, replaced compromised sheathing, installed ice and water shield at vulnerable areas, applied synthetic underlayment, and finished with new architectural shingles. The homeowner now has a roof built to last 30+ years.

Leak Repair and Mold Remediation

Southern California

A persistent roof leak caused water damage and mold growth in the ceiling and wall cavity. Our team identified and repaired the leak source, removed all affected drywall and insulation, treated the framing with antimicrobial solution, and rebuilt the area with new materials. Final paint and texture match the surrounding surfaces so the repair is invisible.

Attic Insulation Removal and Installation

Southern California

The existing attic insulation had settled and degraded over time, leaving large areas with minimal thermal protection. Our crew removed all old insulation down to the ceiling joists, cleaned the attic space, sealed air leaks around penetrations, and installed new blown-in insulation to current energy code requirements. The homeowner saw an immediate improvement in indoor comfort and lower utility bills.
