Chimney Flue Repair and Relining

Cracked flue tiles are a fire and carbon monoxide hazard. We repair and reline flues to restore safe operation.

The flue liner is the barrier between combustion gases and your home structure. Cracked or deteriorated liners allow heat, sparks, and carbon monoxide to reach combustible framing. Eco Grizzly repairs flue liners using HeatShield cerfractory sealant for minor damage and installs full stainless steel liner systems for severely compromised flues.

Flue Repair

Signs of Flue Damage

Broken flue tile pieces in the firebox, white efflorescence on chimney exterior, a smoky smell when the fireplace is not in use, or failed video inspection results. Any of these conditions call for immediate professional evaluation.

Repair Options

HeatShield cerfractory sealant is applied from inside the flue to seal joints and minor cracks in clay tile liners. The sealant is a calcium aluminate compound that withstands temperatures above 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit. For extensive damage, a full stainless steel relining provides a new flue path from the firebox connection to the chimney top. We also offer cast-in-place liners that form a smooth, seamless flue inside the existing clay tiles.

Why Flue Integrity Matters

Carbon monoxide is colorless and odorless. A cracked flue liner can allow CO to seep through mortar joints into adjacent rooms, attic spaces, or wall cavities. The Consumer Product Safety Commission attributes over 150 deaths per year to CO poisoning from heating systems. A sound flue liner is your primary defense. We test liner integrity with a Level II video inspection and provide a written assessment of any defects found.
